Advanced Product Redirect

We have just released a very handy addon for stores with many changen on their product catalogues

Advanced Product Redirect Addon for CS-Cart offers you the option to  redirect a deleted or deactivated product.

When you disable a product, a 302 redirect (temporary) is created to the main category of this item, and a popup is also infroming your visitor when he opens the page (multilingual message that you can change in translations),  

Disabling the product can be done either through the product screen or from the item list.

If you delete a product, a 301 redirect (permanent) is created and in this case you can choose from a popup menu the type of redirection:

a. pre-selected : to the main category

b. to another product : by selecting it from the list of products

c. to another category : by selecting it from the list of categories

You can also choose to show the client popup or not in this case. This is pre-selected by default so you can save time.

Deletion can be done either through the product screen or the product list in bulk also.

If you choose to redirect to another product the visitor who finds your deleted product in the search results, automatically gets a better experience and the chances of losing the sale compared to a  generic 404 page are minimal since the redirection is based on a replacement product so the visitor finds actually something similar. Even the general redirecting to the main category has better results as the visitor will see related products to what he was looking for without having to navigate.

This addon also reduces the admin time needed to create manually all those redirects in Web page > SEO > 301 redirects menu, as its fully automated, even in bulk deletion. Its just 3 moves:

- select products from list,

- select "delete products" from gear.

- confirm auto redirection as you like.

Important ot note is that 302 redirection for temporary deactivated products, was not possible through CS-Cart fucntionality till now !

A very effective tool that reduces 404 pages drastically. Fewer 404 pages means better visitor experience but also better Google rankings.
