Guest checkout raises conversion by removing a step — and creates a different problem: orders that belong to nobody. The customer has no order history, no saved address and no reason to come back; the store has a database of one-off purchases. Creating the account automatically solves both sides at once.
The customer notices none of it: the order is placed as a guest order, and the account simply exists afterwards.
