Product Import Match EAN

This add-on matches products while importing on EAN code – or other primay key – to common products. Instead of creating new sinlge-products, the “Product match EAN” add-on creates linked-products to common-products. This helps prevent the creation of numerous similar products. Product content can be managed throught the common-product, while price & stock can be submitted for individual Vendors. 

How it works

1. Install the “Product match EAN” add-on.
2. Add a common product. 
3. Create a feature field that will be used as primary key. Example: EAN. 
4. Complete the product with text, features, images, etc.
5. Prepare the import by uploading a product XML or CSV file. 
6. Map the fields from the CSV / XML to CS-Cart product-fields. 
7. Select the primary key to match products. 
8. Run the import.  

The result

Products from the CSV / XML file will be imported as linked-product. These products will appear only once on the webshop, as common product. They might have multiple Vendors displayed selling the product. When multiple Vendors offer the same product, customers can select a preferred Vendor on the webshop. 

If a Vendor’s product is matched on EAN code (or other primary key) a linked product will be created. This linked product inherist all the product characteristics, while stock & price are fetched from the CSV / XML file. 

When a product is not found, it is skipped by default. This means that the product will NOT be automatically added to your CS-Cart catalogue. 

Products with unknown categories are skipped by default. Meaning that the import will NOT create a new category and the product will not be imported to your CS-Cart catalogue. 

Product name & descriptions will – by default – be stripped from unwanted HTML tags. Also – by default – allowed HTML tags will be stripped from attributes, making sure you HTML code stays crisp and consistent to your layout as defined in the stylesheet. 

Execute Manual or Scheduled CRON Job

Execute the import manually or create a scheduled CRON job to run the import automatically. The import will update existing linked-products and (optionally) create new linked-products for Vendors.  

Add-on Options

1. Allowed HTML tags Submit the HTML tags that you allow in product descriptions. Tags NOT in the list will automatically be removed during import. For example: Adding <p> or <h1> tags here will allow content-managers to format the text using only these HTML tags.  Default: <br> <p> <ol> <ul> <li> <b> <strong> <i> <small> <sub> <sup>  
2. Strip attributes from allowed HTML tags Check this option if you want to strip all attributes from the allowed HTML tags. When selected attributes from allowed HTML tags are automatically stripped during import. For example: <h1 style=”font-size: 16px”> will be stripped to <h1> and <p class=”example”> will be stripped to <p> only.  Default: On  
3. Allow creation of new products When checked, the import is allowed to create new products. When “Off” products in the CSV / XML import-file that are not matched on the primary-key will be skipped and ignored.  Default setting: Off  
4. Allow creation of new categories When checked, the import will automatically create new categories that are defined in the import CSV / XML file. When “Off” products in the CSV / XML import-file that belong to a product-category that is NOT defined in your CS-Cart will be skipped and ignored.  Default setting: Off  

Installation Instructions

1. Installation
   Follow the CS-Cart instructions to install this add-on to your CS-Cart environment. Installation is simple and easy.  
2. Configuration 
   Navigate to the add-on in your CS-Cart adminstration. Open the 'settings' tab.
   A. Submit the HTML tags you want to allow in the source-code of the product description.
   B. Select if attributes on allowed HTML tags should be stripped. For example: <h1 style=”font-size: 16px”> will be stripped to <h1> and <p class=”example”> will be stripped to <p> only.
   C. Check if the import should create new products on import.
   D. Check if the import should create new categories. 

Notes

• Duplicate primary keys will be skipped. For example: 2 common-products with identical EAN codes will not be linked during import.
• Depending on your settings, linked products may need to be approved for publication.
