Stripe Checkout Payment Gateway

What it does

Connects CS-Cart to Stripe Checkout — Stripe's hosted payment page where customers complete card and local payment methods in a PCI-compliant flow. After payment, the add-on updates order status automatically via verified webhooks and a secure return URL, so orders are marked paid even if the customer closes the browser tab.

How it works

1. Install and configure — install the add-on, create a payment method with Stripe Checkout processor, enter Stripe Secret key and webhook Signing secret, select test or live mode
2. Set up Stripe webhook — in Stripe Dashboard, add an endpoint pointing to the callback URL shown in admin; subscribe to the three Checkout session events listed in settings
3. Customer pays — at checkout the customer is redirected to Stripe Checkout; line items reflect products, shipping, taxes, and discounts
4. Order is fulfilled — Stripe sends a signed webhook and/or the customer returns via success URL; the add-on verifies payment and sets the order to Processed (paid) or Open (authorized, manual capture)

Requirements

• CS-Cart 4.4.0 or higher (B2C, Ultimate, Multi-Vendor)
• PHP 7.2+ (PHP 7.4+ recommended)
• Active Stripe account with API keys
• HTTPS-enabled storefront for live payments and webhooks
• Webhook endpoint configured in Stripe Dashboard (or Stripe CLI for local development)

Common questions

Q: Does it work with Multi-Vendor?
A: Yes. The payment processor integrates with standard CS-Cart checkout and order placement; each vendor storefront uses the configured payment method.

Q: Do I need a separate Stripe plugin or Publishable key?
A: No. This add-on uses Stripe Checkout (hosted page) and requires only the Secret key and webhook Signing secret. Customers never enter card data on your store domain.

Q: Are refunds supported from CS-Cart?
A: Refunds are processed in the Stripe Dashboard. The add-on focuses on payment acceptance and order status updates; refund initiation from the order page is not included in the current version.

Q: What is manual capture used for?
A: Manual capture authorizes the payment at checkout but captures funds later in Stripe. Orders are set to Open until you capture in Stripe and update the order status in CS-Cart.
