Almost nobody remembers their postcode, and a manually typed address is a returned parcel waiting to happen. Worse, a customer who has to go and look something up often leaves the checkout page entirely. Suggestions solve both problems at the point where they appear.

What it does

  • Address suggestions as the customer types: country, city, state or province and postcode are filled in automatically once an option is chosen.
  • Autofill by current geolocation — a single click when the delivery address is where the customer is.
  • Works at checkout and when editing personal data in the customer account.
  • Integration with Google, Yandex and DaData through an API key.
  • In Multi-Vendor, autocomplete for vendors as well — at registration and later in their profile.
  • Address fields filled in the administration panel too, when a manager edits a profile or an order.

Requests to a paid geocoding service add up quickly. The add-on caches the data it receives, waits a configurable delay before sending a request and only starts asking after a minimum number of characters — three settings that cut the number of billable calls substantially.

On mobile the gain is larger still: typing a full address on a phone keyboard is exactly the kind of friction that ends a checkout.

How do I avoid a large API bill?

Caching, a request delay and a minimum character count are all configurable — together they keep the number of paid requests low.
